Every Thursday here at stay tuned for another exciting chapter in Tom Locke’s story. Its not dystopian but, have mercy, its one man’s survival

  • The cliffside of killers and recruiters

Tom Locke could wait no longer and pulled the door handle open with incredible force. This shocked the two guards. The small bit of mace he released into both of their faces was even more shocking. As they reached out both in anger and desperation Najair met the with the chain balled around his fists. The screaming wiping of the eyes came to a screeching halt as their two bodies crumpled to the ground.

Najair rapped them right along the temples and turned their world upside down in a hurry. Tom felt better about his partner already. Still, AK47s would be a little harder to stop with just a chain and a pen. These two were taken by surprise.

They had no high-powered weapons and were lights out before they could reach for a sidearm. Which also meant…now Tom and Najair each had a sidearm. It was a lunker too. There was something about the Desert Eagle that just felt like much more than a handgun. Tom had fired one before and felt this similar feeling. Sure, any other caliber could kill a man. This particular weapon though just felt like something different in his hands.

Tom began unwrapping one of the head dresses..

“You want to dress like the enemy?”

Najair asked

“Sure if it helps me get the hell out of here I will dress up like Kim Kardashian.”

Najair was not amused and told Tom sternly.

“I will not dress in the enemies clothes. Come outside. Leave this filth to ferment.”

Tom dropped the scarf over the young mans unconscious face. He was white. Red beard. This thing was penetrating much deeper than he had realized. However, this was just the beginning of this realization. Something more ominous awaited him outside.

Each cabin was studded with a flag. The flags read in arabic but some in English as well. ISIA.

“Islamic State in America. You are right to be afraid. Though, I should be more afraid. No one has killed more muslims in recent history than groups of radical muslims like these.”

There was a veritable city of tents that sat just outside the perimeter of the cabins. A rainbow of different colored tents as though this Islamic militant nightmare were also a premier camping destination. Tom looked them over confused.

“Recruitment Tom. Your people. Our people. Americans. Just like those back at the cabin. They told me thousands a month are joining. Crossing the borders unhindered and great numbers aren’t crossing borders at all.”

His heart was pounding as he was trying to wrap his head around the situation. No cameras. Bought and sold Senators. Until it looked him  in the face it was all too conspiratorial. This was the breeding ground. This was everything Sun Tzu had taught.

“If your enemy is secure at all points, be prepared for him. If he is in superior strength, evade him. If your opponent is temperamental, seek to irritate him. Pretend to be weak, that he may grow arrogant. If he is taking his ease, give him no rest. If his forces are united, separate them. If sovereign and subject are in accord, put division between them. Attack him where he is unprepared, appear where you are not expected .”
― Sun Tzu, The Art of War

The two men walked slowly towards the woodline. The sun was falling fast and a cold night awaited them in the dark and dangerous woods. They would have to become the night if they wanted to survive. A fire would give them away so tonight they would shiver. Their goal was to avoid contact of any kind.

As they crept along the side of a cabin and around the front slowly, eyes fixed on the woodline ahead, from behind a cabin door slammed. They were just 100 yard from the forest’ edge but they had to turn and face whatever it was behind them.
